Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Pharmacy Technician for PRN shifts in Missouri. You will assist pharmacists in preparing, compounding, and dispensing medications and help with inventory control. You will train technicians and serve as a resource for entry-level staff.

Operate within the supervising pharmacist's oversight, following laws and Mercy standards, with shifts including evenings and at least one weekend per month. A strong safety and patient-focused approach is expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalence.
• Active Missouri Board of Pharmacy license as Pharmacy Technician or willingness to register by first day of work.
• 1 year of pharmacy experience preferred.
• Complete pharmacy department orientation.

Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacists in preparing, compounding, and dispensing medications.
• Support inventory control and floor stock inspections.
• Train pharmacy technicians and act as resource for entry-level staff.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and Mercy standards.

Supports and assists the Pharmacist in the preparation, distribution, and inventory control of medication and performs other duties as necessary for the provision of patient-focused pharmacy services. Assists with training of pharmacy technicians, has been trained and is a resource person for dispensing cabinets, helps with floor stock inspections, has an active role in improving workflow. The certified technician will not have supervisory duties over other technicians but will be a resource person for entry-level technicians. The pharmacist will check all medications and preparations before they are dispensed. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards. Typical work shifts include 1 evening a week and at least 1 weekend per month on a PRN basis.

PRN

The Pharmacy Technician assists pharmacists in preparing, compounding, and dispensing medications and are accountable to the supervising pharmacist who is legally responsible for the care and safety of the patients served by the pharmacy. The Pharmacy Technician follows applicable standards and federal, state & local laws and regulations for the care and safety of the customers and patients served.

Qualifications:

Tech I:

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalence exam.


• Licensure: Actively registered, in good standing, with the Missouri Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician or willing to submit application for registration by first day of work. This includes submitting fingerprints for FBI background check.


• Experience: 1-year relevant pharmacy experience preferred but not required.


• Other: Successfully complete pharmacy department orientation.

Tech II:

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalence exam.


• Licensure: Actively registered, in good standing, with the Missouri Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician or willing to submit application for registration by first day of work. This includes submitting fingerprints for FBI background check.


• Experience: 1-year relevant pharmacy experience required; 2 years preferred.


• Certifications: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).

Tech III:

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalence exam.


• Licensure: Actively registered, in good standing, with the Missouri Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician or willing to submit application for registration by first day of work. This includes submitting fingerprints for FBI background check.


• Experience: 3-year relevant pharmacy experience required


• Certifications: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
