Job summary

Mercy Hospital South is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists in preparing, compounding, and dispensing medications in a fast-paced hospital setting. The technician will be accountable to the supervising pharmacist and must follow applicable laws and regulations to ensure patient safety.

The Tech I/II/III levels outline evolving education, licensure, and experience requirements, including Missouri Board registration and FBI background checks.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalence.
• Licensure: Missouri Board of Pharmacy registration or willing to apply by first day of work, fingerprints for FBI background check.
• Experience: Tech I - 1 year preferred; Tech II - 1 year required; Tech III - 3 years required.

The Pharmacy Technician III follows applicable standards and federal, state & local laws and regulations for the care and safety of the customers and patients served.

The Pharmacy Technician assists pharmacists in preparing, compounding, and dispensing medications and are accountable to the supervising pharmacist who is legally responsible for the care and safety of the patients served by the pharmacy. The Pharmacy Technician follows applicable standards and federal, state & local laws and regulations for the care and safety of the customers and patients served.

Qualifications:

Tech I:

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalence exam.
• Licensure: Actively registered, in good standing, with the Missouri Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician or willing to submit application for registration by first day of work. This includes submitting fingerprints for FBI background check.
• Experience: 1-year relevant pharmacy experience preferred but not required.
• Other: Successfully complete pharmacy department orientation.

Tech II:

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalence exam.
• Licensure: Actively registered, in good standing, with the Missouri Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician or willing to submit application for registration by first day of work. This includes submitting fingerprints for FBI background check.
• Experience: 1-year relevant pharmacy experience required; 2 years preferred.
• Certifications: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).

Tech III:

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalence exam.
• Licensure: Actively registered, in good standing, with the Missouri Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician or willing to submit application for registration by first day of work. This includes submitting fingerprints for FBI background check.
• Experience: 3-year relevant pharmacy experience required
• Certifications: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
