Job summary

Walgreens is seeking a Pharmacist to provide counseling, compound, dispense and verify medications, and support immunization services. You will help customers understand drug interactions, side effects and usage, while ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines and company policies.

You will engage with patients, build relationships, manage medication therapy reviews, handle insurance processes, and support store operations.

Qualifications

• Willingness to obtain a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited educational institution prior to the start date in position.
• Willingness to obtain pharmacist licensure from the respective Board of Pharmacy in the states within the district within 90 days of hire per district guidelines.
• Certified Immunizer or willing to become an immunizer within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Counsels patients and answers their questions regarding usage of medicine, side effects, interactions, contraindications, patient information privacy, generics, less expensive medicines, over-the-counter products, and refers to medical provider as needed to ensure medication is taken correctly, health needs addressed, and satisfaction with service.
• Performs pharmacist tasks including compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, and medication management.
• Ensures the pharmacy operates in accordance to regulations, company policies and standards; assists with establishing procedures to promote efficient workflow and handles opening/closing and shift changes.
• Maintains knowledge of pharmacy systems (Intercom Plus, registers, automation, StoreNET) and proposes enhancements to promote productivity.
• Ensures accurate processing of insurance claims and follows up with insurance companies and medical providers.
• Performs retail, clinical, and wellness services such as immunizations, flu shots, diabetes awareness and other preventive healthcare services.
• Assists and supports the pharmacy manager in analyzing performance data and managing inventory.
• Develops relationships with local medical community and participates in community outreach to promote the pharmacy business.
