Job summary

Walgreens is seeking a Pharmacy Intern to engage in post-graduate pharmacy activities under direct supervision. You will provide pharmacy consulting to customers, discuss medication usage and drug interactions, and help immunization services while ensuring proper compounding, dispensation, and verification of prescribed medicines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy is required or equivalent international credential.
• FPGEC certification or equivalent for international graduates.
• Intern permit/certificate issued by the state Board of Pharmacy.
• Willingness to obtain state licensure within 45 days of internship completion.
• Certified Immunizer or willingness to obtain immunization certification within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Counsels patients on medication usage, side effects, interactions and privacy.
• Performs compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, and medication management.
• Reviews, interprets and dispenses prescribed medications accurately.
• Ensures operations comply with regulations, policies, and standards; supports workflow.
• Maintains knowledge of pharmacy systems and proposes enhancements to improve productivity.
• Assists with insurance claims and follow-up with providers to resolve issues.
