Job summary

Walgreens Boots Alliance in New York seeks a Pharmacy Intern to support post-graduate pharmacy activities under licensed pharmacist supervision. You will assist with dispensing, patient counseling, immunizations and preventive health services while ensuring compliance with state and company policies.

You will help optimize workflow, participate in inventory management, and contribute to a positive customer experience by answering questions and promoting safe medication use.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from accredited University outside the United States.
• Foreign Pharmacist Graduate Equivalency Certificate (FPGEC).
• Intern permit/certificate issued by the respective Board of Pharmacy, if required.
• Willingness to obtain pharmacist licensure from the respective Board of Pharmacy in the states within the district within 45 days of completion of intern hours.
• Certified Immunizer or willing to become an immunizer within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Counsels patients on usage, side effects, interactions and privacy, referring to medical providers as needed.
• Performs pharmacist tasks including compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, and medication management.
• Reviews, interprets and dispenses prescribed medications when workload requires.
• Assists in establishing procedures to promote efficient workflow and inventory management.
• Provides retail, clinical and wellness services including immunizations and preventive care.
