Hackensack Meridian Pascack Valley Medical Center in Westwood, NJ, seeks a Pharmacy Director to lead hospital pharmacy services and drive safe, compliant medication management. The role oversees operations, clinical services, regulatory compliance, and staff development, partnering with hospital leadership to advance pharmacy initiatives and patient care.

The position requires a PharmD or BS with NJ license, 3+ years hospital pharmacy experience and 2+ years of leadership, plus BLS within 14

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy.
  • Current Pharmacist license in the State of New Jersey.
  • Three or more years of hospital pharmacy experience.
  • Two or more years of supervisory or leadership experience.
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily hospital pharmacy operations and provide oversight, coaching, and development for pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and support staff.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, Board of Pharmacy requirements, DEA regulations, Joint Commission standards, and USP 795, 797, and 800 requirements.
  • Develop and execute pharmacy goals related to medication safety, clinical quality, operational efficiency, productivity, financial performance, and patient satisfaction.
  • Oversee medication-use processes, formulary management, drug utilization, clinical pharmacy services, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Recruit, train, evaluate, and retain pharmacy team members while promoting accountability, collaboration, and professional development.
  • Partner with physicians, nursing, hospital leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to improve medication management and patient outcomes.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain pharmacy policies, procedures, programs, and regulatory readiness initiatives.
  • Participate in hospital committees and lead pharmacy-related projects, new programs, and corporate initiatives.

Responsibilities

The Director of Pharmacy provides strategic and operational leadership for hospital pharmacy services, ensuring safe, effective, and compliant medication management practices.   • ALS/ACLS certification (required if participating in Code Blue response)

Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education, and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
