Job summary

Pascack Valley Medical Center in Westwood, NJ invites applications for a Pharmacy Director to provide strategic and operational leadership of hospital pharmacy services.

The Director will oversee operations, regulatory compliance, formulary management, clinical pharmacy services, and staff development, partnering with physicians, nursing, and hospital leadership to advance patient care and medication safety.

Qualifications

• ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy degree required.
• Current Pharmacist license in New Jersey.
• Three or more years of hospital pharmacy experience.
• Two or more years of supervisory or leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily hospital pharmacy operations and provide oversight, coaching, and development for pharmacists, technicians, and staff.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, Board of Pharmacy, DEA, Joint Commission, and USP standards.
• Develop and execute goals related to medication safety, clinical quality, operational efficiency, and patient satisfaction.
• Oversee medication-use processes, formulary management, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Recruit, train, evaluate, and retain pharmacy team members with a focus on accountability and collaboration.
• Partner with physicians, nursing, and hospital leadership to improve patient outcomes.
• Develop, implement, and maintain pharmacy policies and regulatory readiness initiatives.
• Participate in hospital committees and lead pharmacy-related projects and corporate initiatives.

• Hackensack Meridian Pascack Valley Medical Center is a 128-bed, full-service, acute-care community hospital with a new emergency department, a state-of-the-art maternity center, a women's imaging center, and an ICU.

Responsibilities

The Director of Pharmacy provides strategic and operational leadership for hospital pharmacy services, ensuring safe, effective, and compliant medication management practices. This position oversees pharmacy operations, clinical services, regulatory compliance, financial performance, quality improvement, and staff development while partnering with hospital and corporate leadership to advance pharmacy initiatives and patient care.

• Lead daily hospital pharmacy operations and provide oversight, coaching, and development for pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and support staff.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, Board of Pharmacy requirements, DEA regulations, Joint Commission standards, and USP 795, 797, and 800 requirements.
• Develop and execute pharmacy goals related to medication safety, clinical quality, operational efficiency, productivity, financial performance, and patient satisfaction.
• Oversee medication-use processes, formulary management, drug utilization, clinical pharmacy services, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Recruit, train, evaluate, and retain pharmacy team members while promoting accountability, collaboration, and professional development.
• Partner with physicians, nursing, hospital leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to improve medication management and patient outcomes.
• Develop, implement, and maintain pharmacy policies, procedures, programs, and regulatory readiness initiatives.
• Participate in hospital committees and lead pharmacy-related projects, new programs, and corporate initiatives.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy
• Current Pharmacist license in the State of New Jersey
• Three (3) or more years of hospital pharmacy experience
• Two (2) or more years of supervisory or leadership experience
