Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or Equivalent.
• Must possess current licensure as required by state board where services will be provided: MD Pharmacy Technician License or Technician Student Permit; OH Certified/Registered Technician License or Trainee License; PA Technician License or Trainee License; WV Technician License or Trainee License.
• Associates degree OR post high school education in a science field OR graduate of a pharmacy technician training program.
• Six (6) months of pharmacy technician experience.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for preparing unit-dose medications, delivering medications, and ordering and delivering drug supplies.
• Reads physician orders/prescriptions and prepares medication for dispensing, including pediatric and geriatric dosage forms.
• Under supervision of a pharmacist, maintains required records and complies with state/federal regulations.
• Prepares and labels prepackaged medications and maintains inventory across service areas.
• Labels parenteral/Prescription products appropriately and performs arithmetic for dosage determinations.
• Communicates with patients or caregivers to arrange medication delivery or pickup.
• Answers telephone and routes calls; ensures drug storage areas are kept clean and orderly.

Education

Associates degree or post high school education in science, or graduate of a pharmacy technician training program

Pharmacy Technician License or Trainee License (WV/MD/OH/PA)
