Job summary

West Virginia University Health System (PCH Princeton Community Hospital) is seeking an Operations Pharmacy Technician II to assist in drug distribution under pharmacist supervision. The role supports training of junior technicians and performs tasks per written procedures within state regulations.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma, current licensure, and national certification or progress toward certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or Equivalent.
• Current licensure as required by state boards (MD/OH/PA/WV) or trainee license.
• National certification (PTCB/NHA) or 2+ years pharmacy experience within 15 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepare unit-dose medications, deliver medications, and manage drug supplies.
• Read prescriptions and prepare medications including pediatric/geriatric dosage forms.
• Understand standard pharmaceutical terms and abbreviations used in dispensing medications.
• Communicate with patients or caregivers to determine medication needs and delivery scheduling.
• Accurately prepare/deliver controlled substances and maintain records.
• Inventory management and replacement of outdated medications; replenish supplies.
• Prepare non-intravenous medications, including oral solutions for pediatric patients.
• Label parenteral/Prescription products correctly.
• Perform dosage calculations for medications.
• Follow departmental standards for speed and accuracy.
• Prepare and label prepackaged medications and maintain related records.
• Maintain inventory in assigned pharmacy areas.
• Answer phones and direct calls appropriately.
• Keep pharmacy and drug storage areas clean and orderly.
• Assist in training pharmacy technicians.
• Some duties reserved for Pharmacists by state/federal regulations.

Education

High school diploma or Equivalent

Pharmacy Technician Licensure (MD/OH/PA/WV) or trainee license

Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician (PTCB/NHA) or 2+ years pharmacy experience within 15 months
