Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals in Morgantown seeks an Operations Pharmacy Technician I to assist in drug distribution under pharmacist supervision, including unit-dose preparation and medication delivery.

The role requires a high school diploma, state licensure as a pharmacy technician, and up to six months of experience. 40 hours/week; on-site at WVUH Suncrest Pharmacy in Morgantown, WV.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current licensure as required by state board where services will be provided.
• WV: Pharmacy Technician License or Trainee License through West Virginia Board of Pharmacy.
• OH: Certified or Registered Pharmacy Technician License or Trainee License through Ohio Board of Pharmacy.
• PA: Pharmacy Technician License or Pharmacy Technician Trainee License through the Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy.
• MD: Pharmacy Technician License or Pharmacy Technician Student Permit through Maryland Board of Pharmacy.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for preparing unit-dose medications, delivering medications, and ordering and delivering drug supplies.
• Reads physician orders/prescriptions and prepares medication for dispensing, including pediatric and geriatric dosage forms.
• Understands standard pharmaceutical terms, abbreviations, and symbols used in prescribing/dispensing medications.
• Communicates with Patients or caregivers to determine medication and delivery details.
• Prepares and labels parenteral/Prescription products and maintains necessary records.
• Maintains inventory and replaces outdated medications.
