Job summary

Merit Health River Region Medical Center is seeking a Pharmacist Staff to ensure safe and effective medication use. This role emphasizes accurate dispensing, clinical support, and collaboration with healthcare professionals to enhance patient care.

The pharmacist will review orders, counsel patients, and participate in safety initiatives while maintaining documentation in the electronic health record and supporting inventory management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy required or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) required.
• 0-1 years of hospital or retail pharmacy experience required.
• Active license as a Pharmacist in the state of employment.

Responsibilities

• Dispense medications accurately in accordance with prescriptions and hospital procedures.
• Review orders for appropriateness, assess patient regimens, and provide therapy optimization recommendations.
• Counsel patients and families on proper medication use, side effects, and adherence strategies.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses and other healthcare team members to resolve medication-related issues.
• Participate in medication safety initiatives, quality improvement projects, and audits.
