Job summary

Essentia Health is seeking a Pharmacist Site Lead to oversee dispensing, interpretation and monitoring of medications, and to provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care. The role involves leading workflow optimization, interdepartmental communication, and quality improvement initiatives across the hospital pharmacy department.

The position requires a PharmD or BS in Pharmacy with licensure in Minnesota, with ASHP-accredited residency preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have a PharmD or BS in Pharmacy and be licensed to practice in the relevant state(s).
• ASHP-accredited hospital residency preferred; hospital pharmacy experience is a plus.
• Leadership or supervisory experience is preferred for this site lead role.

Responsibilities

Job Description:

The Pharmacist Site Lead performs site lead activities consistent with the expectations of Essentia Health. Participates in and oversees the preparation and dispensing of prescriptions to provide comprehensive pharmacy services. Responsible for performing all duties associated with interpretation, order verification, dispensing and monitoring of medications ordered by prescribers; the evaluation and dissemination of comprehensive information about medications and their use, to patients, families, and medical staff; and providing quality pharmaceutical care to make a healthy difference in people's lives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supports Pharmacy workflow development and optimization
• Communicates with Inter and intradepartmental pharmacy
• Reviews, develops, and implements quality improvement tasks
• Attends Hospital and Pharmacy meetings as assigned
• Job duties may also include daily medication monitoring, distribution and acquisition duties as required by the pharmacy department, medication reconciliation, anticoagulation dosing and monitoring, pharmacokinetic monitoring, renal dose adjustments, and provide medication related consultative service to staff within Essentia Health. Assists in all aspects of the daily departmental activities, including training of new staff and precepting pharmacy students, interns and residents, billing, record keeping, monthly audits, and other duties as assigned by the department leader.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

Education Qualifications:

Graduate of a college of pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (BS or PharmD degree required) ASHP-Accredited Hospital Residency, or three or more years of hospital pharmacy experience preferred.

Licensure/Certification Qualifications:

Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist by the Board of Pharmacy of the state in which they will be working (Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota).

Pharmacists in the SMPHM Union, are required to be licensed in both Minnesota and Wisconsin, regardless of their primary worksite.
