Job summary

Essentia Health is seeking a Pharmacist Site Lead to oversee hospital pharmacy operations at the St Marys Medical Center site. You will supervise dispensing, interpretation, order verification, and provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care to patients, families, and staff.

The role emphasizes workflow optimization, quality improvement, and participation in hospital/pharmacy meetings. Licensure in Minnesota/Wisconsin/North Dakota is required, with a 1.0 FTE schedule and potential remote/hybrid

Job Description:

The Pharmacist Site Lead performs site lead activities consistent with the expectations of Essentia Health. Participates in and oversees the preparation and dispensing of prescriptions to provide comprehensive pharmacy services. Responsible for performing all duties associated with interpretation, order verification, dispensing and monitoring of medications ordered by prescribers; the evaluation and dissemination of comprehensive information about medications and their use, to patients, families, and medical staff; and providing quality pharmaceutical care to make a healthy difference in people’s lives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supports Pharmacy workflow development and optimization
• Communicates with Inter and intradepartmental pharmacy
• Reviews, develops, and implements quality improvement tasks
• Attends Hospital and Pharmacy meetings as assigned
• Job duties may also include daily medication monitoring, distribution and acquisition duties as required by the pharmacy department, medication reconciliation, anticoagulation dosing and monitoring, pharmacokinetic monitoring, renal dose adjustments, and provide medication related consultative service to staff within Essentia Health.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

Education Qualifications:

Graduate of a college of pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (BS or PharmD degree required) ASHP-Accredited Hospital Residency, or three or more years of hospital pharmacy experience preferred.

Licensure/Certification Qualifications:

Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist by the Board of Pharmacy of the state in which they will be working (Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota). Pharmacists in the SMPHM Union, are required to be licensed in both Minnesota and Wisconsin, regardless of their primary worksite.
