Job summary

Ascension is seeking a Pharmacist for a remote role within Ascension Rx - Embedded Pharmacies. You will review medication orders, dispense medications, and provide drug information to staff and patients.

Responsibilities include communicating with physicians, supervising technicians, and potentially precepting pharmacy students. Requires a Pharmacist license before hire; Bachelor's in Pharmacy, with a Master’s/Pharmacy Doctorate preferred.

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Pharmacy; master's/PhD preferred

• Assists with academic functions such as serving as a preceptor for pharmacy students; may float to cover pharmacy needs; provides patient counseling when required.

• Location: Remote
• Department: Ascension Rx - Embedded Pharmacies
• Schedule: Multiple shifts available - 40 hours per week

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Reviews and assesses medication orders to identify, prevent and resolve potential and actual drug related problems. Recommends formulary alternatives when appropriate.
• Compounds and dispenses medications for accurate delivery to patients. Provides drug information and education to medical staff and patients.
• Communicates with physicians and other clinicians as necessary to facilitate care.
• Oversees technical personnel who assist in the preparation, maintenance, and dispensing of medications and supplies.
• Assists with academic functions such as serving as a preceptor for pharmacy students. May float to provide coverage of pharmacy needs. Provides patient counseling when required.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):
  • Pharmacist obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Pharmacy required. Master's degree or Doctorate of Pharmacy preferred.
