Job summary

STAR Long Term Care Pharmacy in Sacramento, CA, is seeking an energetic Pharmacist to join our small, family-style team serving skilled nursing facilities. The role involves overseeing accurate preparation, reviewing blister cards, and verifying prescriptions for safety and legality, while guiding technicians in IV compounding.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed and in good standing in California.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to problem solve, make decisions in a fast-paced environment, and meet deadlines.
• Software experience with Framework or DocuTrack is preferred.
• Prior pharmacy experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the accurate preparation of medications for final dispensing to the patient, including order entry, filling and toting.
• Review filled blister cards and unit dose strips to ensure prescriptions are filled correctly.
• Verify the legality and pharmaceutical feasibility of dispensing a drug based on allergies, interactions, and refill frequency.
• Interpret prescription orders and exercise professional judgment in determining whether to dispense a prescription.
• Transfer prescriptions to and from other pharmacies as needed.
• Answer questions from patients, doctors, nurses, etc.

STAR Long Term Care Pharmacy is a closed door pharmacy located in Sacramento, CA. We currently service Skilled nursing facilities. We are seeking an energetic pharmacist to join our team. RPH must have experience in LTC Pharmacy. We are looking for a Pharmacist with a flexible schedule and whom is eager to work in a small family environment. We offer competitive wages as well as benefits.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the accurate preparation of medications for final dispensing to the patient, including order entry, filling, and toting.


• Review filled blister cards and unit dose strips to ensure prescriptions are filled correctly.


• Verify the legality and pharmaceutical feasibility of dispensing a drug based on patients' allergies, drug interactions, frequency of refills, etc.


• Interpret prescription orders and exercise professional judgment in determining whether to dispense a particular prescription.


• Transfer prescriptions to and from other pharmacies as needed.


• Answer questions from patients, doctors, nurses, etc.


• Oversee technicians in Compounding IV's.


• Dose IV medications per patient specific data.

Requirements

Must be licensed and in good standing in the state of CA.
