Job summary

Lilly, headquartered in Indianapolis, IN, seeks an experienced MEP Capital Cost Estimator to develop owner‑side estimates for complex pharmaceutical manufacturing projects. You will convert scope and market data into traceable estimates and support multidisciplinary reviews, with a focus on accuracy and clear cost narratives.

The role requires 5+ years in capital cost estimating for industrial or life sciences projects, with proximity to Indianapolis and willingness to travel up to 25% as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, quantity surveying, or related field.
• At least 5 years of direct capital cost estimating experience for industrial, manufacturing, life sciences, or similarly complex capital projects.
• Demonstrated experience developing estimates across multiple levels of project definition, from conceptual to detailed.
• Authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis (no visa sponsorship).

Responsibilities

• Develop owner‑side estimates from Class 5 through Class 1 for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and related systems.
• Prepare estimate plans, estimate workbooks, quantity takeoffs, pricing build‑ups, bases of estimate, and supporting documents.
• Interpret design information and specifications to define estimate scope and cost.
• Build inputs for labor, materials, equipment, subcontract, and indirect costs.
• Benchmark costs using historical data, market rates, and escalation factors.
• Identify risks and gaps; document treatment in the Basis of Estimate.
• Support reviews and reconciliations with project teams and partners.
• Maintain estimates in Oracle Unifier PMIS with auditable trail.
