The Construction Helper performs tasks requiring physical labor on construction sites, mainly assisting construction craft workers or electricians. They may carry tools and materials or help set up equipment. Tasks vary in complexity from easy to hazardous.
Job Duties:
- Spot and direct heavy equipment operators, such as track hoes and loaders, from the ground during excavation.
- Operate small equipment, like skid steer loaders.
- Cut and thread steel pipe; assist in fitting and installing underground and above-ground tanks.
- Assist the foreman with shooting grades and documentation.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized job site per the foreman’s instructions.
- Ensure all safety signs, barricades, and devices are in place.
- Follow safety requirements, including wearing proper personal protective equipment.
- Account for, clean, and organize tools on trucks or job trailers.
- Maintain accurate job inventory.
- Travel to in-state job sites Monday through Friday; company pays per diem and travel expenses.
Requirements:
- Ability to spot and direct heavy equipment operators during excavation; operating small machinery like skid steers or backhoes is a plus.
- Ability to cut and thread steel pipes and assist in fitting and installing tanks.
- Assist with shooting grades and simple paperwork.
- Help keep the job site clean, organized, and safe, wearing proper PPE.
- Maintain tools and inventory as directed.
- Communicate effectively and anticipate issues to assist planning.
- Present a professional image and maintain personal appearance.
