Amcor is seeking aMaintenance Mechanic in Smyrna, TN responsible for preventive maintenance, machine guarding, and shutdown handling. You will verify cycle times, load materials, and perform minor repairs to maintain quality and safety on a 12‑hour shift.

Strong reading skills, math usage, and the ability to follow manuals are essential. The role requires teamwork, safety focus, and forklift certification; plastics experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must own basic set of tools.
• Preferably plastics industry experience.
• Able to stand, walk, lift, reach, bend and climb during a 12 hour shift.
• Forklift certifiable.
• Read and follow technical manuals and use math in maintenance work.
• Good communication and organizational skills.
• Work well with others and safety conscious.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and record work orders promptly.
• Inspect machines for proper guarding and safe operation at start of shift and after breaks.
• Identify priority machines and ensure proper cycle times.
• Make minor adjustments and repairs to fix quality issues.
• Record downtime and report issues to expedite replacements.
• Assist technicians and engineers as needed.
• Changeover equipment and startup procedures.
• Maintain safety compliance and clean work space.

Job DescriptionJob Duties:- Must pass LOTO training- Inspect all machines for proper guarding at start of shift- Identify machine priority level at start of shift- Verify machines are running proper cycle times at start of shift- Verify material loading system is not running behind at start of shift and after every break- Check grinders at the start of shift and after every break- Check hydraulic oil level and temperature at the start of shift- Verify all machines are working properly and not slamming at the start of shift- Perform PMs in a timely manner and properly fill out the PM work orders- Make minor machine adjustments and/or repairs to correct Quality issues- Report all parts used immediately so replacements can be ordered in a timely manner- Changeover equipment, startup equipment, and make minor processing adjustments- Will be responsible for recording machine issues and submitting Downtime Report- Provide assistance to Production Assistants, QAs, other Mechanics, Technicians, and EngineerRequirements:High School Diploma or GEDMust have own set of basic toolsPreferably has PLASTICS experienceAble to stand, walk, lift, reach, bend, and climb continuously during 12 hour shiftGood communication and organizational skillsCan read and work from technical manualsCan use math as applied to maintenance workCan follow written instructions with minimal supervisionForklift certifiableWork well with othersPositive moraleAble to make thoughtful well-reasoned decisionsCan pick up and move up to 50 poundsMust follow all Safety behaviors and keep a clean work spaceMust wear long sleeve shirts, pants, steel toe, ear plugs, safety glasses, hard hat, and hair netExperience in one of the following required:INDUSTRIAL ElectricalPnuematicHydraulicEBM , RHB.
