Job summary

Banfield Pet Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians in delivering quality pet care. You will educate clients on wellness plans, assist during procedures, and maintain accurate medical charts while ensuring a safe hospital environment.

The role requires NAVTA-approved training or equivalent experience, strong communication, and a commitment to teamwork and patient safety.

Qualifications

• Certificate or training from NAVTA approved veterinary assistant program or equivalent experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred for entry into the role.
• Experience assisting veterinarians and technicians is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and technicians to ensure quality pet care and safety.
• Educate clients on wellness plans, preventive care and hospital services.
• Obtain and document medical histories and maintain accurate charts.
• Support surgical and exam procedures within state practice acts.
• Maintain clean, sterile treatment areas and proper restraining techniques.
• Mentor paraprofessionals and support staff as needed.
• Communicate effectively with the veterinary team to optimize patient flow.
