Job summary

Heartland Veterinary Partners is seeking a Kennel Assistant to care for patients visiting the practice for grooming or boarding. You will admit and monitor patients, log instructions, and ensure proper discharge while maintaining clean kennels and safe facilities.

The role involves walking and feeding patients, supervising by Doctors or Technicians, and providing general support to the veterinary team. Weekend availability and prior veterinary experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to work on weekends as required.
• Previous veterinary experience preferred
• Ability to lift patients up to 25 pounds; with assistance for heavier patients
• Practices OSHA safety techniques including proper PPE

Responsibilities

• Provides great care for patients visiting the practice for grooming and/or boarding.
• Ensures patients are admitted noting the client’s instructions, contact information, and pickup time.
• Records patient information such as feeding schedules, appearance, and behavior during visit.
• Observes patient condition for signs of illness or distress.
• Handles patients and restrains difficult ones as needed.
• Walks patients for exercise and elimination multiple times per day.
• Provides appropriate food and liquids as required.
• Ensures patients are clean, checked by staff before discharge, and that personal property is accounted for.
• Maintains kennels, cages, runs, and stalls; cleans and disinfects to prevent odors and disease spread.
• Launders and dries towels and blankets.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
