Job summary

Banfield Pet Hospital seeks a Pet Care Assistant to support the veterinary team in delivering compassionate care in a busy hospital. You will assist with preparing treatment rooms, handling specimens, and educating clients on preventive care to promote pet health and owner satisfaction.

In this role, you will help manage routine in-house lab tests, restrain and comfort animals during examinations, maintain clean facilities, and support scheduling and client services.

Qualifications

• Fluent English communication in writing and speaking.
• Ability to multi-task and manage several tasks with accuracy.
• Strong client service orientation and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Prepare treatment rooms and supplies for examinations.
• Set up fecals, smears, and skin scrapings per state rules.
• Provide client education on preventive care and wellness plans.
• Support Client Services Coordinator as needed.
• Hold or restrain pets during examinations or injections.
• Prepare routine in-house tests (e.g., heartworm, FELV, FIV).
• Monitor and improve comfort of hospitalized patients.
• Maintain hospital cleanliness and hygiene.
• Assist with bathing/dipping pets and equipment cleaning.
• Other duties as assigned.
