Job summary

Banfield Pet Hospitals is seeking a Pet Care Assistant to support the veterinary medical team in delivering high-quality patient care. You will prepare treatment rooms, restrain animals during procedures, and assist with in-house labs and routine care under state guidelines.

The role emphasizes teamwork, customer service, and adherence to hospital protocols, with a focus on animal welfare and efficient clinic operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old to perform radiography (x-ray) and exposure to radioactive substances.
• One year related experience required with customer service preferred.

Responsibilities

• Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. within self and team.
• Prepare the treatment room for examination of pets and all necessary medical item and supplies for the veterinarian and/or veterinary technician.
• Serve as support to the Client Services Coordinator, Veterinary Assistant and Veterinary Technician.
• Hold or restrain pets during examination, treatment, or inoculation.
• Prepare routine in-house laboratory tests as allowed by state rules and regulations.
• Monitor the comfort of hospitalized patients and ensure their welfare throughout stay.
• Bathe and dip pets when necessary to treat dermatological conditions as advised.
• Clean the surgical suite and instruments.
• Ensure hospital cleanliness including housekeeping tasks as outlined by protocols.
• Other job duties as assigned.
