Job summary

Banfield Pet Hospitals in Harrisburg, NC is seeking a Pet Care Assistant to work with the veterinary team in preparing treatment rooms, vaccinations, fecals, slides and in-house tests, while keeping the hospital welcoming, clean and efficient for clients and pets.

You will restrain and handle pets during examinations, support client education on preventive care and wellness plans, and assist the Client Services Coordinator as needed, all while upholding hospital protocols.

Qualifications

• Ability to multi-task and manage multiple tasks under distracting conditions.
• Fluent English communication, both written and spoken, with proper grammar and vocabulary.
• Organizational skills and a systematic approach to assignments.
• Problem-solving ability to identify and apply practical solutions.
• Strong client service mindset and ability to deliver attentive, courteous service.
• Comfortable with computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the treatment room and all necessary medical items for examinations.
• Set up fecals, smears, and skin scrapings as allowed by state rules.
• Maintain the flow of the Cycle of Service and assist with client education.
• Restrain and handle pets during examinations, treatments, or inoculations.
• Prepare routine in-house laboratory tests as allowed by state rules.
• Monitor comfort of hospitalized patients and maintain hospital cleanliness.
