South Metro Animal Emergency Care in Minnesota is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians, ensuring pet safety and comfort during visits. The role covers room prep, patient intake, and post-procedure monitoring in a fast-paced animal hospital environment.

You will interact with clients, document medical histories, and assist with basic tests and medications under veterinary direction, contributing to high-quality patient care and client service.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certificate from NAVTA-approved Veterinary Assistant program preferred.
• One year of pet care experience preferred.

Responsabilités

• Foster a culture built on Respect, Learning, Do the Right Thing, WOW Service, and Fun.
• Clean, disinfect, and prepare exam rooms, equipment, and surgery areas between appointments.
• Obtain initial patient information and update records with medical histories and visit reason.
• Calm, soothe, and restrain pets before, during, and after procedures.
• Take notes on examination results and update records as directed by veterinarians.
• Provide owners with education and resources on pet care as directed.
• Monitor pets' vital signs after surgery and during hospitalization or boarding.
• Maintain clean cages, pens, runs, and boarding areas; feed, water, bathe, and exercise pets.
• Respond to client questions and perform procedures not requiring veterinary staff assistance.
• Examine pets for signs of illness or injury and assist under veterinarian direction.
