Job summary

PetVet Care Centers' Regional Veterinary Referral Center in Springfield, VA is seeking a Veterinary Assistant (Swing Shift) to support veterinarians and technicians in daily tasks, including exam room prep, patient handling, and administrative duties. Open 24/7 with multiple specialty services, you will be part of a team delivering high-quality care after hours.

The Swing shift runs from 12 PM to 12:30 AM. Candidates with ER experience, strong technician skills, and a passion for animal welfare

Qualifications

• 18 years or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years experience in an emergency room setting with strong basic technician skills (IVC placement and maintenance, phlebotomy, radiology, in-house lab work).
• Able to manage hospitalized and potentially critical patients.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to all patients.
• Greet patients and owners and take vital signs on arrival.
• Triage patients, assist with physical exams and medications as directed by Vets/LVTs.
• Calm anxious patients and assist doctors with procedures.
• Operate and maintain hospital equipment and document meds and records.
• Perform lab tests and take radiographs; maintain records and confidentiality.
