Job summary

Kansas Humane Society in Wichita, KS is seeking an Adoption Counselor to greet visitors, counsel potential adopters, and guide them through the pre-adoption and adoption processes with warmth and professionalism.

The role emphasizes compassionate customer service, animal welfare, and teamwork; requires a high school diploma and some animal care or customer service background. The position is full-time, weekdays and one weekend day.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Previous animal handling experience with dogs and cats preferred.
• A background in caregiving or customer service.
• Respect for the human animal bond is a must!

Responsibilities

• Provides and models timely, polite, and respectful internal and external customer service regardless of the circumstances.
• Must remain calm, flexible, and willing to see other perspectives.
• Assist with and participate in the development and implementation of special adoption events.
• Promote open conversations between counselors and adopters to provide resources for successful pet ownership.
