State of California—Caltrans in San Luis Obispo County is seeking a Personnel Technician I to support payroll, benefits, recruitment and exams, acting as liaison between district employees and headquarters. Under the supervision of the Organization and PositionManager; acts as the liaison for personnel/payroll issues between District employees and Headquarters Transactions; disseminates personnel/payroll information and receives and distributes personnel-related documents to appropriate designated staff. Provides support to the District Human Resources Liaison and staff in the area of pay, benefits, recruitment and exams. Assists with District recruitment efforts and exams. As appropriate, provides assistance or refers employee questions and/or problems pertaining to a variety of personnel-related issues to the Human Resources Division or the District Human Resources Liaison.

Position located at 50 Higuera St., San Luis Obispo, San Luis Obispo County.
This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans’s evolving telework policy. Caltrans supports telework, recognizing that in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate will be required to commute to the headquartered location as needed to meet operational needs. Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee’s designated headquartered location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the headquartered location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
