Personnel Security Specialist I Adjudicator

The Personnel Security Specialist (PSS) completes personnel security suitability intake tasks in support of DHS Federal Protective Services (FPS), Personnel Security Division (PSD).

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

1. Initiating background investigations.
2. Managing receipt of security documents submitted from contractor applicants.
3. Conducting fingerprinting procedures.
4. Verifying the appropriate level of background investigation requested and ensuring all required documents are completed and included in individual files.
5. Preparing, submitting, monitoring, and updating computer tracking systems regarding case materials.
6. Applying incident management, problem solving, and task performance skills.
7. Participating in special projects.
8. Performing additional duties as needed.

Minimum Experience & Education:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in security or intelligence fields such as technical, physical, information, industrial, personnel, or operational security.
• Subject matter expertise and hands-on experience in one or more security disciplines and implementing complex government security or intelligence programs is preferred.
• Highly organized with excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Familiarity with ISMS, eQIP, CVS, and/or DISS is a plus but not required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US government Public Trust security clearance; US citizenship required.

Work Environment:

• This position is performed in a traditional office setting.
