Job Description: Personnel Security Specialist I & II
Location: Alexandria, VA - May occasionally be required to work at an Arlington Office
Responsibilities include:
- Preparing case work for preliminary vetting requests, including reviewing and analyzing questionnaires for background investigations, security forms for integrity and fitness, suitability, criminal law checks, credit bureau reports, and other reports as necessary.
- Performing background investigation checks, identifying and associating risk and sensitivity levels, and updating case summaries with all actions taken. Reviewing security paperwork for accuracy and completeness, and evaluating the authenticity of data or documentation obtained from various sources.
- Conducting investigative checks such as Personnel Investigation Processing System or Central Verification System checks, Credit checks, FBI Fingerprint checks, FBI Name checks, and Selective Service Registration checks.
- Reviewing the results of continuous vetting checks, safeguarding sensitive information including Privacy Act Protected Information and Personally Identifiable Information.
- Working within business processing systems, updating the personnel security database (eWORKS), entering correct data, creating processing activities, and uploading relevant supporting documents.
- Researching, gathering, reviewing, analyzing, and compiling personnel security information into case summaries.
- Providing customer service, preparing emails, memos, Letters of Interrogatory, Letters of Advisement, and Conditional Approval Letters.
- Managing caseloads to meet target timelines.
- Assisting Federal staff with personnel security administrative tasks.
Qualifications:
Personnel Security Specialist II
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in security administration, background investigations, physical security, or related private sector security experience with Federal Government contracting.
- Minimum of 2.5 years’ experience with case work following guidelines such as 5 C.F.R. part 731, 1400, and executive orders 10450, 12968, and 13764.
- Must be a US citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
- Experience with business processing systems, preferably eWorks.
- Experience in communication, including constructing Letters of Interrogatory, Advisement, and Conditional Approval Letters.
- FDIC support experience is highly desired.
Personnel Security Specialist I
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in security administration, background investigations, physical security, or related private sector security with Federal Government contracting.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in researching, analyzing, and comparing background investigation materials.
- Must be a US citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
- Experience with business process systems and personnel security case management systems, preferably eWorks.
- Knowledge of regulations such as 5 C.F.R. part 731, 1400, and executive orders 10450, 12968, and 13764.
- FDIC support experience is highly desired.
