Qualifications

• Certification: Valid Maine PSS Certification (or willingness to complete training).

• Character: Patient, sympathetic attitude toward the elderly and commitment to high-quality care.
• Physical: Ability to perform lifting, bending and standing tasks.

Responsibilities

• Personal Care: Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming and oral hygiene.
• Mobility Support: Help with walking, transfers (bed to chair), fall prevention.
• Household Support: Light housekeeping incl. laundry, dishes, vacuuming, tidying.
• Nutrition: Assist with meal planning, grocery shopping, and healthy meals.
• Companionship: Provide emotional support, conversation and engagement in activities.
• Transportation: Escort clients to appointments and run essential errands.
• Reporting: Observe changes and communicate updates to the supervisor.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Personal Care: Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and oral hygiene.
• Mobility Support: Provide help with walking, transfers (bed to chair), and fall prevention.
• Household Support: Perform light housekeeping, including laundry, dishes, vacuuming, and keeping the living area tidy.
• Nutrition: Assist with meal planning, grocery shopping, and healthy meal preparation according to client dietary needs.
• Companionship: Offer emotional support, conversation, and engagement in social activities or hobbies.
• Transportation: Escort clients to doctor’s appointments and help with essential errands.
• Reporting: Observe and document any changes in the client’s physical or mental health and communicate updates to the supervisor.
