Job summary

The Law Offices of James Scott Farrin in Durham, NC seeks a detail-oriented Legal Assistant to support Personal Injury Paralegals in a fast-paced environment, handling follow-ups, documentation, and administrative tasks to keep cases moving efficiently.

Responsibilities include assisting with claims, medical records, and LORs, while maintaining case notes and working within the case management system. Full-time, onsite at Durham/Raleigh offices.

Qualifications

• Prior experience as a Legal Assistant or Administrative Assistant in personal injury or high-volume legal setting preferred but not required.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support Personal Injury Paralegals in a high-volume caseload environment.
• Follow up with insurance adjusters regarding acknowledgments, liability decisions, limits, and claim status.
• Assist with opening claims, coverage verification, and overflow coverage when team members are out.
• Track and follow up on medical liens, subrogation, health insurance, and workers’ compensation matters.
• Send Letters of Representation (LORs) and assist with MedPay demands and follow-up.
• Request and monitor medical, employment, and court-related records and documentation.
• Add medical bills and payments to case ledgers and assist with balance checks.
• Respond to basic provider and adjuster inquiries at paralegal discretion.
• Maintain accurate case notes, reminders, and follow-ups in the case management system.
• Provide general administrative and case support to keep files moving efficiently.
