Visiting Angels Des Moines provides non-medical in-home care for seniors and adults with disabilities across Des Moines, West Des Moines, Urbandale, Grimes, Johnston, Clive, Norwalk, Pleasant Hill and Altoona. One of our caregivers joined us after years serving elderly and disabled Iowans and found a new way to help here.
You’ll work alone in clients’ homes, perform personal care tasks with respect and dignity, follow care plans, and build meaningful connections.
Maybe you spent years supporting adults with disabilities in a group home. Maybe you worked for a home health agency, or a program that helped elderly Iowans stay independent, until the funding dried up or the schedule stopped working.
The work you did mattered. You don’t have to stop doing it.
Visiting Angels Des Moines provides non-medical in-home care for seniors and adults with disabilities across Des Moines, West Des Moines, Urbandale, Grimes, Johnston, Clive, Norwalk, Pleasant Hill and Altoona. One of our own caregivers came to us exactly this way: after years serving elderly and disabled Iowans, her program lost funding and she was looking for another way to help. She found it here.
How to respect someone’s dignity while helping with personal care. How to stay patient when a day goes sideways. How to work on your own and still follow a care plan. That experience puts you ahead from day one.
Paid, hands‑on training, in person at our Urbandale office on real equipment, with certificates to show for it. Transfers, dementia care, mechanical lifts and more.
You’ll work alone in clients’ homes, and some of our clients are declining. You’ll get attached. If you’ve done this kind of work before, you know that’s both the hard part and the best part.
One more thing: after you apply, we’ll send a short questionnaire. It ends with a space to tell us more about yourself. A story, an interesting fact, anything you like. We read every one.
