Visiting Angels Des Moines is seeking caregivers to provide non-medical in-home care for seniors and adults with disabilities in Des Moines and surrounding areas. You’ll help with daily activities, meals, safety, and companionship to help clients remain in their homes.
The role offers paid training, real PTO, and premium rates for holidays and short visits. Training is conducted in-person at our Urbandale office and focuses on safe transfers, dementia care, and mechanical lifts.
You’ve changed diapers at 3 a.m. You’ve held a kid’s hair back when they were sick. You’ve helped your husband out of bed after surgery, sat with your mom through her last hard year, or checked on the neighbor who couldn’t get to the store anymore.
You didn’t do it for a paycheck. You did it because someone needed you, and you couldn’t imagine not showing up.
Right now, somewhere in Des Moines, there’s a family who needs someone exactly like you. A daughter who lives three states away and worries every night. A husband who can’t lift his wife anymore but can’t bear the thought of her leaving their home. A widow who just needs someone to sit with her, laugh at her stories, and make sure she eats lunch.
You could be the reason they sleep a little easier tonight.
Visiting Angels Des Moines provides non-medical in-home care for seniors and adults with disabilities in Des Moines, West Des Moines, Urbandale, Grimes, Johnston, Clive, Norwalk, Pleasant Hill and Altoona. We help people keep living in the homes they love, with care that’s reliable and compassionate.
Some real, hands‑on experience caring for another person. Your own kids, a spouse, a parent, a grandparent or a neighbor all count. It doesn’t have to be years, and it doesn’t have to have been a job. We just want you to know what caring for someone really involves, so you walk in ready.
You bring the heart and the instincts. We'll build on them with paid, hands‑on training, taught in person at our Urbandale office on real equipment. You’ll learn safe transfers, dementia care and mechanical lifts, and earn certificates along the way. Many caregivers say the training finally put words to things they’d been doing by instinct for years.
This is personal care. Bathrooms, accidents, confusing days, and clients who may not remember your name tomorrow. If you’ve cared for someone before, none of that will surprise you. And you already know the feeling when they smile at you anyway. That’s why we do this.
Because the people who give the most deserve to be treated well: your training is paid, your raises are in writing before you’re hired, you earn real PTO, and holidays and short visits pay premium rates. You’ll see every detail on paper at your interview.
One more thing: after you apply, we'll send a short questionnaire. It ends with a space to tell us more about yourself. A story, an interesting fact, anything you like. We read every one.
