Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) is seeking a Physical Security Specialist to help develop and manage the Lab's SCIFs/SAPFs, ensuring government accreditation and compliance.

Responsibilities include reviewing design drawings for ICD 705 standards, coordinating with SSO/PSO, and supporting lifecycle documentation from initial accreditation through renewal and decommissioning, in a fast-paced, security-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 5+ years of relevant experience in security, engineering, construction management or related field.
• At least 5 years of security experience with emphasis on physical security.
• Knowledge of ICD705, Tech Specs, and DODM 5205.07.
• At least 3 years of construction planning/design: programming, drawings/reviews, coordinating with architects/engineers.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Bluebeam Cloud software.
• Willing to work in SCIFs/SAPFs daily and on construction sites.
• Active Top Secret clearance; eligibility for TS/SCI+poly.

Responsibilities

• Oversee documentation for the design, construction and refurbishment of SCIFs/SAPFs; assist with facility accreditations and government approvals.
• Review and implement physical security plans/procedures for all SCIFs/SAPFs; manage lifecycle docs from accreditation to decommissioning.
• Coordinate with design teams to ensure ICD 705 standards are applied in construction; manage change control and risk reviews.
• Coordinate with SSO/PSO and security professionals; perform security coordination across multiple programs and projects.
