Job summary

San Bernardino County Land Use Services seeks a Land Use Technician – Land Development Engineering to assist in processing planning, building, and development applications and ensure compliance with county regulations.

The role involves customer service at public counter, reviewing permits and site plans, and analyzing road dedications, easements, FEMA flood zones, and field verifications, with opportunities to grow within the Land Development Engineering intake and county codes.

Qualifications

• ONE (1) of the Experience Options: One year processing permit applications for land use, building, fire or related code regulations, including explaining requirements to the public.
• Option 2: Two years public information, investigations, inspections, or fieldwork in planning, land use, or code enforcement.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct customer service at the public counter, over the phone, and via email.
• Review residential building permits and site plans for compliance with County standards (grading, drainage, site constraints).
• Analyze road dedications, easements, legal/physical access, and FEMA flood zone requirements.
• Support Land Development Engineering intake by creating and managing project records in EZOP.
• Conduct research/field investigations to verify compliance with County codes and permit conditions.
