Job summary

MYR Group Inc. is seeking a Permitting Specialist to secure necessary permits and approvals for electrical transmission, distribution, and substation projects.

The role supports bid and construction activities through permit planning, agency coordination, and compliance tracking. The ideal candidate has experience in utility or construction permitting, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple permits across projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of permitting, right-of-way, project coordination or administrative experience in utility or construction.
• High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or bachelor's degree in construction management, planning, GIS or related field preferred.
• Ability to read construction drawings, maps and right-of-way documents; manage multiple permits across projects.

Responsibilities

• Permit planning: review scopes, build permit tracker, flag long-lead permits, assist estimators with permit costs and timing.
• Applications and agency coordination: prepare permit applications, serve as main contact with agencies, coordinate with utility clients.
• Tracking and compliance: maintain permit logs, share approved permits with field crews, coordinate inspections and renewals.
• Field and team support: work with superintendents to resolve permit issues, stay updated on permitting changes, improve templates and turnaround times.
