Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. seeks an Environmental Permitting Lead to manage environmental permitting and compliance for electric transmission, distribution, substations, and related infrastructure.

You will guide proposal development, permitting strategies, agency coordination, and regulatory reviews from planning through construction. You will mentor junior staff, collaborate with engineers and clients, and monitor schedules and budgets while identifying risks and ensuring adherence

Qualifications

• 8+ years of environmental permitting experience for utility and energy projects.
• Experience leading permitting efforts for transmission, distribution, substations, renewables.
• Knowledge of NEPA, Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act.
• Strong communication and leadership for agency meetings and client discussions.
• Proficiency with MS Office and permitting documentation workflows.

Responsibilities

• Support proposal development, fee estimates, scope development, and project pursuit activities related to environmental permitting services.
• Lead and oversee environmental permitting efforts across multiple concurrent power delivery projects.
• Develop and execute permitting plans for transmission lines, substations, distribution systems, renewables.
• Serve as the primary permitting lead for clients, project teams, and regulatory agencies.
• Coordinate environmental studies, field investigations, and technical reports for permit applications.
• Lead preparation and review of permit applications and environmental assessments.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate permitting requirements into projects.
• Identify permitting risks, schedule constraints, and mitigation strategies.
• Lead client meetings, agency consultations, and stakeholder discussions.
• Monitor project performance from permitting and compliance perspectives.
