Job summary

The City of Sioux Falls seeks a customer-focused professional to join our Planning and Development Services team. You will guide residents, businesses, and contractors through building permitting, zoning, and code enforcement, acting as the welcoming face and guiding hand to bring building projects to life.

Provide support across multiple divisions, assisting applicants and ensuring clear communication of procedures and requirements.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college, university, or vocational/technical school with an associate degree in business or public administration and at least two years of customer service experience.
• Understanding of planning and zoning, building trades and construction, and code enforcement.
• Any combination of education, experience, or training as may be acceptable to the hiring authority.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive customer service support across Planning and Development Services functions including planning, building, zoning, housing, and code enforcement.
• Assist and guide customers in navigating Residential and Zoning permitting applications, issuances, and inspections.
• Educate the public on building code and ordinances; work with divisions to ensure clear communication of procedures.
