Job summary

The Liberty County Board of Commissioners is seeking a full-time Permit Technician to join the Building & Licensing team. You will assist customers with permits and business licenses, process applications, enter data, and maintain records; you’ll support inspections and site development while keeping daily operations organized and efficient.

Ideal candidates have an Associate's degree (or higher) and at least one year of related experience, plus strong communication and computer skills to

Qualifications

• Associates degree preferred; 1+ year related experience required.
• Assist with permits and licenses, enter data, and maintain records.
• Support inspections and site development, and respond to public inquiries.

Responsibilities

• Greet visitors and provide secretarial support to the department.
• Assist customers with applications for licenses and permits; route to proper paperwork.
• Enter data into computer permit program and issue permits after approval.
• Create and maintain permanent permit files and records.
• Process business license applications and renewals; collect fees.
• Log inspections in permit system and liaise between inspector, customers, and utilities.
• Notify 911 of address changes and record in permit system.
