Job summary

The Oregon Department of Human Services is seeking a Permanency Worker to engage with families, assess safety, and support children toward safety and stability. You will collaborate with caregivers, schools, and DHS partners to foster child permanency.

Qualifications include a relevant degree and driving eligibility. The role involves travel and working in homes and community locations with occasional after-hours and on-call requirements.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license required.
• Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field or equivalent.
• Associate degree with required experience or certified coursework as per Oregon requirements.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess safety, well-being, and development of children in care; support transitions such as returning home or adoption.
• Facilitate and observe parent–child visits, provide coaching, and arrange transportation.
• Maintain regular contact with families and partners; develop and update safety and service plans.
• Coordinate services, make referrals, and track progress for children and families.
• Keep accurate case records, including assessments, plans, and required documentation within timelines.
• Prepare reports, make recommendations, participate in court hearings and review boards.
• Collaborate with caregivers, schools, service providers, and DHS partners to support child stability and permanency.
