Job summary

Dollar General in Carlisle, KY is seeking a Perishable Department Supervisor responsible for managing produce, dairy, meats, bakery and other perishables. You'll support the Store Manager with inventory, merchandising, and customer service to drive safe, profitable operations.

The role requires hands-on leadership, adherence to food safety rules, and training of associates in stocking, pricing, and freshness.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in maintaining financial integrity through cash accountability and security practices.
• Maintain perishable stock levels using store tools and forecasts to prevent stockouts and excess waste.
• Train associates in proper presentation, freshness, and pricing standards for perishable areas.
• Record and analyze perishable markdowns and implement corrective actions to minimize recurrence.
• Ensure customers' needs are addressed promptly and maintain compliance with sanitation standards.
