Job summary

Food Lion in Virginia Beach is seeking a Store Manager for the Perishable Department to lead a team, ensure exceptional service, and drive sales performance. You will hire, train, and coach associates, manage labor, and optimize daily operations to meet budgeted goals.

Successful candidates will have a high school diploma, strong interpersonal and leadership skills, and a commitment to Food Lion safety and quality standards. Retail experience preferred; physical demands apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication and customer service skills.
• Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
• Ability to lead and direct others.
• Must meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functions.
• Must be able to meet physical requirements of the position.
• Accredited by NRFS or similar as a Certified Food Safety Manager, or obtain within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Perishable Department, including hiring, training and developing department associates.
• Supervise performance and provide ongoing coaching and formal appraisals for direct reports.
• Daily labor management and coaching to meet productivity goals.
• Provide leadership to promote company culture and values.
• Support achievement of budgeted financial and operating results.
• Deliver exceptional customer service and friendly, efficient shopping experience.
• Model outstanding service and use product knowledge to meet customer needs.
• Control store expenses through ordering and inventory management.
• Utilize company tools for reporting, scheduling, and operations.
• Maintain department appearance, quality, and sanitation standards.
• Write Perishable Department schedules to ensure customer service levels.
• Understand scheduling, sales, wages, and hiring processes for management.
