Job summary

Dollar General in Elberta, Alabama seeks a Perishable Department Leader to manage produce, meat, dairy, bakery, and related perishable areas. You will assist in inventory control, merchandising, and in maintaining safe, compliant operations.

Your role includes training staff on stocking, freshness, and pricing, ensuring customer needs are met efficiently, and maintaining policy adherence across the perishables. This is a fulltime, on-site position with a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• 1 year retail environment experience and 6 months supervisory experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local/state food handling certifications, if applicable.
• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, and procedures manuals.
• Experience with cash handling and cashier accountability.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager to ensure financial integrity through cash accountability and security practices.
• Maintain perishable stock levels and use tools like current ads, planners, and order guides.
• Train associates in stocking, presentation, freshness and pricing standards for perishable areas.
• Record inventory levels as requested by Store Support Center and respond to customer needs promptly.
• Ensure compliance with sanitation standards and food handling regulations.
