Job summary

Arnot Health in the Southern Tier of New York seeks a Surgical Technician to support the nursing staff in the operating room. You will assist with instrument handling, patient positioning, draping, and sterile technique under the supervision of an RN.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited surgical technology program, credentialing, BLS within 90 days of hire, and ongoing CEU hours; the role emphasizes quality, safety, and teamwork within a busy surgical department.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school of surgical technology; credentialing must be maintained.
• Annual 15 hours of continuing education to remain qualified in surgical technology.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire.
• Surgical technologist experience preferred; prior healthcare facility experience advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Direct Services to Patients: assist in preparing and positioning patients for surgery and ensure sterile technique.
• Indirect Services to Patients: maintain accuracy of instrument counts with the RN and support the surgeon during procedures.
• Work with OR staff to assemble and set up operating rooms, scrub tables, and Mayo stands.
• Assist the licensed practitioner with draping, prepping the skin, and patient care under RN supervision.
