Job summary

Arnot Health in Ithaca, NY seeks a Surgical Technician to support the operating room team under RN supervision. You will assist with setup, draping, and instruments, ensuring sterile technique and patient safety throughout procedures.

The role requires a graduate of an accredited surgical technology program, credentialing or progression toward it, and ongoing CEU completion (15 hours/year). BLS is required within 90 days of hire; physical duties include lifting and standing for extended periods.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology and credentialing within a year if not credentialed.
• Annual 15 hours of continuing education to remain qualified in surgical technology.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of Standard Precautions and sterile technique.
• Assists in assembling and setting up operating rooms with supplies, instruments and equipment.
• Assists licensed practitioner in moving/positioning patients for surgery.
• Maintains correct counts of sponges/needles/instruments with RN and reports discrepancies.
