Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking a Perioperative Assistant Clinical Manager to provide daily clinical and operational leadership for a specific surgical service line. You will coordinate case flow, mentor RNs, and ensure readiness of instruments and equipment in collaboration with the Nurse Manager and charge nurses.

The role requires an Associate degree in nursing, RI RN licensure, and at least 2 years of perioperative nursing leadership experience.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing required; RN license in RI.
• Minimum of 2 years perioperative nursing leadership experience.
• Active AORN and CNOR preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily clinical and operational leadership for a surgical service line.
• Coordinate case flow and resource allocation with charge nurse to ensure on-time starts and efficient turnovers.
• Mentor RNs and surgical staff with real-time clinical support and guidance.
• Review schedules and adjust staffing based on acuity and complexity.
• Maintain instrument, supply, and equipment readiness for specialty cases.
• Act as liaison between surgeons, staff and leadership on operational issues.
• Support Nurse Manager with scheduling, staff assignments, evaluations and performance improvement plans.
• Identify staff training needs and coordinate with Clinical Educator for targeted education.
• Assist onboarding of new staff and surgeons and communicate workflows and expectations.
• Foster a respectful, inclusive, and accountable team culture.
• Promote cost-effective care and optimize resource use; monitor service utilisation trends.
• Collaborate to justify capital equipment needs and drive efficiency.
