Job summary

SCA Health, part of Optum, is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for the PreOp PACU role. The position focuses on evaluating patients before and after anesthesia, coordinating care with the surgical team, and ensuring safe, high‑quality perioperative practices across our network of ambulatory centers.

You will monitor cardiovascular, respiratory, and neurological status, implement perianesthesia plans, administer medications safely, and provide clear hand‑offs and education to patients and families

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
• One year of Pre Operative or PACU experience required.
• Medical/surgical nursing experience preferred.
• Current state licensure to practice in good standing.
• BLS/BCLS certification within 90 days of employment.
• ACLS certification within 90 days of employment.
• PALS certification within 90 days if pediatric care is included.

Responsibilities

• Promote the mission, vision, and values of SCA Health.
• Assess patient’s preoperative and postoperative status per policy.
• Interpret information from monitors and describe disease processes.
• Develop and implement an individualized perianesthesia plan of care.
• Administer medications safely using the eight rights of medication administration.
• Provide hand-off reports to teammates with relevant patient details.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and participate in quality initiatives.
• Educate patient and designated support persons on perioperative care.
