Job summary

CommonSpirit Health is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Surgery Department at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs. You will collaborate with the healthcare team to provide compassionate, evidence-based patient care and to support the hospital's mission.

Responsibilities include assessing patients, developing care plans, administering medications, documenting care, and educating patients and families.

Qualifications

Associates Degree in Nursing, Nursing Diploma or by endorsement.
RN License in state of employment.
Physical requirements: Medium work, lift up to 50 lbs occasionally, up to 20 lbs frequently, up to 10 lbs constantly.

Responsibilities

Assess patient’s physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs; observe and intervene for optimal outcomes.
Develop and implement patient care plans with interdisciplinary team.
Demonstrate competency in therapies including IVs, wound care, meds, catheterization, and specimens.
Maintain charts and run records; document status, interventions, and outcomes; use IT to communicate and support decision-making.
Promote patient safety and advocate for patient rights; provide education to patients and families; assess learning needs and teach effectively.
