Job summary

St. Tammany Health System in Covington, LA, seeks a Perioperative RN to oversee patient care before, during, and after operative procedures. You will coordinate a surgical team, apply the nursing process, and ensure patient safety through the perioperative period.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a NLN accredited school of nursing
• Current LA RN license
• BLS required or obtained during orientation
• ALS required within 6 months of hire
• Able to work flexible shifts and take call according to unit specific standards
• The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off
• One year Surgery RN experience required but minimum of two years’ Surgery RN experience preferred
• Acute Care facility, surgery experience preferred
• CNOR Certification preferred
• The Perioperative RN must be available in-house within 30 minutes when on call

Responsibilities

• Responsible for a group of patients during a designated time frame and provide care via nursing process and health care team
• Perioperative RN directs and supervises the surgical team during operative and invasive procedures
• Directs planning and directing the care of every patient undergoing operative procedures
