Job summary

MercyOne in Des Moines, IA, is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our perioperative team. The role covers intraoperative scrub and circulating duties, caring for neonate through geriatric patients.

The position requires call, weekends, nights and holidays as scheduled. Responsibilities include preparing for cases, maintaining aseptic technique, data collection, and effective communication with patients and staff.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse license issued/defined by the State of Iowa.
• OR experience preferred.
• BLS certification within 6 weeks of hire.
• Proof of Mandatory Reporter abuse training within 3 months of hire.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Scrubs and circulates on cases independently, with minimal direction.
• Prepares for surgical cases efficiently, anticipating needs of patient, surgeon and OR team.
• Provides a safe environment by aseptic technique and by controlling the environment.
• Collects and analyzes data and assists in nursing diagnoses.
• Communicates effectively with patient, staff, physicians, and families.
• Maintains knowledge of equipment setup and function; assists with turnover.
